This Family Room was an addition, skillfully executed by Architectural Design Works, Inc., in Towson, MD. From the outside, one would not know it is not original to the existing structure. The tall Italianate windows are an exact duplicate of the original east-facing parlor windows (right side from your viewing). Left undressed, they allow light, air, and changing views of the landscape. The north fireplace wall contains a beautiful painted mantel with classical detailing, and local granite (a green choice) river stones pulled from the Patapsco River. The media center is on the opposite wall, exactly where it should be. A fireplace wall that contains a working fireplace is just that. The color palette is creamy white, and is the perfect backdrop to the second focal point in the room; a pair of investment-quality leather sofas ordered through American Eye/DC Design Center that say comfort. It is the second most used room in the home for the family, and when entertaining. The owners are dog lovers and Otto always knows how to pose for the camera! An antique farm table lowered to coffee table height and offers casual dining. Finally, neoclassic style and dog-friendly accessories complete this scheme.
